ADULT EDUCATION
BRIDGES: Spanning New Languages, New Cultures

The Ana A. Brito Foundation at Epworth offers a variety of educational courses designed to empower our community through language and technology. Each year, we provide English language classes that follow a three-semester schedule from September through June, helping students build fluency and confidence over time. We also offer computer literacy courses in both English and Spanish to meet learners where they are, as well as Spanish language classes for individuals who wish to learn or improve their Spanish skills. These programs are designed to be accessible, practical, and supportive for adult learners at all levels.

2024 Program Impact Summary –

English, Spanish, and Computer Classes

In 2024, the Ana A. Brito Foundation offered a total of 19 English classes across the year, with a wide range of options including Basic (offered in staggered Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions), Levels 1–4, Advanced, English Connection (a mixed-level pilot class), and daytime classes for Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced learners. These classes served 347 students (duplicated count) and reached 257 unique learners. Notably, 30 students were served through the pilot “English Connection” class—students who would otherwise have been turned away due to capacity limits.

EAABF is also proud to report that it served 6-8 students on average each trimester in Spanish and Computer classes.  While initial enrollment is often higher, this number reflects more consistent participation.

Additionally, summer English classes were offered in collaboration with Mujer Fuerza y Coraje and Grace UMC, expanding our reach and deepening community partnerships while providing continued learning opportunities during the summer months.
